There is still time to enter the 53rd Annual Creative Writing Contest being held by the Friends of the Littleton Library and Museum.

The contest for young people in grades 1 through 12 closes at 5 p.m. on Saturday, March 28.

It is free to enter.

And this year, high school students are newly eligible to compete. So now, any student in 1st–12th grade who lives, or attends school, within the Littleton Public Schools District can enter the contest. Categories include short stories, poems, scripts and more.

Also new this year are detailed, grade-specific rubrics to guide young authors’s efforts. Rubrics, entry forms, rules and other contest information is online at friendslittleton.org

The writing contest is a great option for students at home over spring break or because of temporary school closings. Contest winners will earn gift cards to the Tattered Cover Book Store and have their work published in the permanent multi-volume collection of winning entries. An awards ceremony also is scheduled.

For more than 50 years, the Friends, a local nonprofit, has helped to encourage and support the imagination of our local young authors through our spring Creative Writing Contest. Students: Don’t delay! Submit your creative writing today!
